The "Everybody Dance Now!" program, in partnership with the Miracle League of CT, will be hosted at Yale for the second time starting Sunday, 1/19. This fun, adaptive dance program is designed to allow all children to express themselves according to their own abilities and interests through the art of dance. We accept children ages 5-21 with any intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities that may make it difficult for them to fully engage in a traditional dance class setting. Absolutely no dance experience needed! Rather than teaching complex steps or a specific technique such as ballet, the dance will be a mix of styles and the music and movements will be adjusted to what the children are enjoying the most. Each dancer will be paired with a one-on-one Yale student buddy for the duration of the program, and classes will be a combination of fun games, creative exercises, and learning some basic choreography. All this will wrap up with an informal performance on 3/1 for the children to show off their new moves!
Classes will run for 7 weeks, on Sunday mornings from 1/19-3/1 at 10-10:45 a.m. They will be held in Yale's Payne Whitney Gymnasium, and free parking will be provided. Even if you missed the first class on 1/19, it is totally okay to still join!
