Athletic Facilities

Thanks to the Support of the Berlin Community, The Athletic Department at Berlin High School enjoys use of the following outdoor facilities :

Sage Park - Suranna Dr. just off the Rt. 5-15 / Berlin Tpke.:

  • Scalise Field - Lighted MultiPurpose All Weather Field (Football, Soccer, Lacrosse), featuring Field Turf (installed 2002 and resurfaced in 2019) and large capacity stadium bleachers. Since the playing surface is not enclosed by a track, a 120 yd x 70 yd soccer field is possible.  
  • Sage Soccer - a 120 yd x 70 yd soccer field with natural grass surface, and bleachers for spectators.
  • Zippadelli Field - Lighted Baseball field with bleachers.
  • Lighted Varsity Softball field with bleachers, and an unlit field for JV Softball.

  • Rex Smith - Tennis Courts (6) - In 2017 the BHS tennis courts were completely reconstructed using a unified concrete surface. This extremely durable and flat surface will provide excellent play for years to come.  The courts were dedicated to long-time tennis coach, Rex Smith, in August, 2019.
  • Biscoglio Track - 8 lane All-Weather, Urethane Track, no spectator seating (constructed in 1995, resurfaced in June 2008, re-lined in 2014, and resurfaced in summer 2018). Public invited after 6:00 PM daily - please stay off lanes 1 and 2.
  • Multipurpose Grass practice field inside the track


  • William Gibney Gymnasium (A-Gym) - The Gibney Gym was renovated as part of the renovate-as-new project in 2015, with new bleachers, a new hardwood floor and hanging divider.
  • Weight Room Facility - as part of the building renovation in 2015-17, a state-of-the-art weight room and training facility replaced the old wrestling gym. This facility contains 6 sets of weightlifting racks with olympic style weights and bars, a full set of dumbbells, full set of exercise machines: two treadmills, two ellipticals, and four stationary exercise bikes.
  • Jim Day Gymnasium (B-Gym) - provides a smaller basketball court, a facility for wrestling, and a baseball and softball batting cage.  The gym was dedicated in memory of long-time wrestling coach, Jim Day in 2018.
