Formed in 2013 to further examine the craft of improv for students, the Berlin improv team, known as Chomping at the BIT, has been working hard to learn and hone the craft of improvised long form comedy. BIT was recently selected to perform at the Hartford Improv Festival for the second year in a row. The six students – Sarah Crabtree, Jil Price, Anna Woodin, Meghan Fox, Dawson Trotman, and Ali Cavanagh – put on a phenomenal 20 minute set based on the audience suggested word of “coffee” on April 5th. The Hartford Improv Festival is a yearly event hosted by Connecticut’s premier improv troupe, Sea Tea Improv. BIT had to submit a recording of one of its performances and apply for a spot in the multi-day festival. Berlin High’s improv team is only the second high school troupe ever to have been accepted into this elite festival. They bested professional improv teams from around the nation, and even as far away as Canada. BIT was incredibly excited to receive this honor for the second year in a row!
